A fun patriotic idea! Flag cupcakes ---super cute for Memorial or Independence Day! Do you like patriotic food ideas? I baked classic vanilla cupcakes and piped red, white & blue rosettes using Wilton's 2D tip. Unfortunately, the blue isn't the right color hue .... live and learn. A bake and share for my young sister's family. My niece loved them!


The cupcake recipe is simple with a 15 minute prep time. Not bad at all. With a lot of piping ahead, I confess and took a short cut.... purchased buttercream frosting. Tip: use a hand mixer to whip the store bought frosting/buttercream. Uncertain which food magazine mentioned this fluffy delicious tip but I love it! I read tons of food articles. Take your time piping rosettes and remember to thoroughly clean the tip prior to piping another patriotic color. Arrange the cupcakes to achieve the flying flag appearance. They're super cute and delicious!
